Prime Timers of Philadelphia (PTP)

(February 2007)

Well I'm late yet again.  It's three days into February and I am only now getting around to updating the web site. A lot has happened since the December update. Our Christmas extravaganza party has come and gone. I hear it went very well, but I was not able to be there. The week before the event I got word that my sister (Therese) was gravely ill. By the time I was able to rush back to Canada, she had passed away. A few weeks after the funeral, we came together again to celebrate Christmas. The best I can say was that it was a time to regroup and come together as a family. With the deaths of my husband (John) and my sister, I am glad to have 2006 behind me. I cannot but be glad at the love and support I felt from my family, and my extended family of the Philly Prime Timers. In difficult times, you extended a hand of love and friendship and I am filled with gratitude for your kindness.

Love, Peter.

(April 2007)

Those of you who watch this space will have noticed that I missed a month. March 2007 went missing and with its horrid weather and surprise blizzards, I say good riddance! As we get into the swing of this new year, our schedule of events is filling out nicely. All that is missing is to see your smiling faces at an event enjoying yourselves. I look forward to seeing you all soon!

(May 2007)

It's May and the Weather is finally becoming bearable. I am very glad to announce that our April general meeting went very well and we now have a fairly full slate of events planned to carry us through the summer into the autumn. A bunch of smaller events are yet to be added, but the scope of these easily allows for quick setup. If you would like to be the center of attention yourself, the door is always open to hosting an event. The club will help you put on a house party so that your outlay in time and money in minimal. As host of the party, you get to decide how mild or wild you desire the event to be. Give it some thought.

(June 2007)

It is with great sadness that we inform you that club member David Thompson passed away on Wednesday, May 16. David was an enthusiastic, hard working, joyful and generous soul. He will be greatly missed by all of us, but most particularly by his partner, Jack S. To Jack, we extend our deepest sympathy. David’s effects were transported to Chicago by his parents where he has been laid to rest.

While we mourn, we must continue the tasks of running the club. So far this is turning out to be an excellent year. We've already enjoyed some wonderful events and soon, the picnics of summer will begin. We have a major outing planned for each month through September in addition to brunches and dinners and outher casual get togethers. As always, the only thing missing from these events is your smiling face, witty conversation and charm. We need YOU to make our calendar a success!

(July 2007)

As I write this it has been exactly one year since my beloved John Hammel passed away. The past year has been a very difficult one for me as it also included the passing of my sister, Therese in December. Looking back though, I can say that I know that I am a most fortunate man. Fortunate to have known my husband and my sister and have my life enriched by their spirit, charm, insight and wisdom and above all their love. In the past year I have also enjoyed the love, support and prayers of family and friends who have stood by me throught it all. In the past year I have felt a presence guiding me forward, even as I stumbled, supporting me in hardship, and most recently, bringing a new love into my life.

When you love someone truly deeply, though their body may die, they live on. They live on in the hearts of those who cared for, nurtured and shared their lives with them. So even as I go forward with my life, the loved ones in my past are with me yet, sharing the moments of my days until time itself no longer matters.

(August 2007)

I am late again, I know. Sorry but a guy has got to have some down time and I was on vacation! So I am a few days late with the web site update. And now the news: Vacation was great! Sucks that it's over! Enjoy the August Update!

(September 2007)

As I write this it is almost a third of the way into the month. I am very late indeed in the web site update and for that I appologize. For those who would be critcal of this, I ask, what have you done lately?
