Prime Timers of Philadelphia (PTP)
(February 2005) Back to Work!
Well vacation is a distant memory, and the time of lazing about is at an end. Time to get back to work! I am looking forward to enjoying myself in the company of my fellow club members and other interested persons at club dinners, brunches, outings, events, and parties!
Further, and I mince no words in this respect the religious right wants to turn the whole country into a bunch of somber, dour faced bible thumpers! Well I say hell no! We have the RIGHT to persue happiness. It's one of the founding freedoms. I certainly do not want anybody forcing their religion on me!
So excercise your rights and get out and PARTY! or have friends over and throw a PARTY!
(March 2005) Still back to Work!
February is cold and bleak, so I took a little vacation at the end of the month. Phoenix was warm and sunny and pleasant and I had a wonderful time. In fact, only one thing went seriously wrong with my vacation! It ended! In addition, I find myself updating the web site a full five days into the month rather than before it as it sould be! I guess the club will just have to reduce my salary!
(April 2005) Spring has arrived at last!
Winter is finally, officially behind us! About f**cking time! To start things off, I am pleased to announce that the club is reinstating its monthly brunches. These were canceled due to poor turnout in the winter months. Well there are no more snowstorms to be afraid of, so come out and have some fun!
(May 2005) Moving Forward
Well I am very glad to report that our pot luck dinner/social/general meeting was a great success. The turnout was great, the company was firendly, the food was delicious and the ideas, suggestions, and participation at the meeting where great! It is a well known secret that I love throwing a party, but when I don't even have to cook all the food! well that's icing on the cake, which I did'nt have to bake! Ok, ok! Buy from Acme! I don't do the baking thing!
And now for a serious subject.... May 2 though 9 is Chastity Awareness Week in PA. Some might think it odd to contemplate something like chastity, but I must say I too think that this is an important topic. I have often thought that the religious right uses sex as a means of control. By locking peoples privates in a vice grip, they control the people. And chastity is a frequently heard theme. Well as a person who suffered many years of chastity all I can say is hogwash! My sexuality is my own and is not to be dictated by some pseudo-christian neo-ayatollah. What can be done? what can we do? Simple, if you know of someone suffering under the scourge of chastity, do what you can to provide relief and comfort to the afflicted! Just remember to be gentle, be happy and above all be safe! You'd be amazed how many "chaste" people really get around! ;-)
(June 2005) Summer Coming!
Well the weather is finally warming up, and the world is bursting with the green greatness of Mother Nature. Time to enjoy the gentle winds and golden sunshine.Time to get out and have some fun! How? Call us up and help us to orgainize a fun event! We need event sponsor and event ideas. Click on the Contact Us link above and let us know what you think!
(July 2005) Summer's Here!
Late in June my hubby and I took vacation up in Toronto. We had occasion to attend the GLBT Pride parade there. Let me tell you it was quite an experience! There were over a million people gathered to celebrate the diversity that make life worth living! I made an effort to document what I could with my camera, but there was just too much to see! Also I purchased a DVD of last years show. So, to share this, my hubby and I will be hosting a Toronto Pride Video Social at our appartment. See the events section for more details.
(August 2005) The Heat is ON!
Well I am very glad to say that the Toronto Pride Video Social at our appartment went very well indeed. We all enjoyed the food, company, conversation as well as reviewing the pictures of the Toronto Pride celebration and the video of it. It was sure a heck of a lot more comfortable to relax and watch the video in air conditioned comfort than it would have been to bake in the sun for four hours!
(September 2005) TIME FOR ACTION!
By now you have all heard of the horrible devastation and suffering of the people of the Gulf Coast and especially New Orleans. Now while it is true that most of us cannot help directly, I urge you all to make a contribution to the American Red Cross (Click Here).
OK; You made a contribution? Good!
Now, how about something active WE can do! At the AIDS Fund, plans are well under way for AIDS Walk Philly 2005, on Sunday, October 16th. As you know, the fight against HIV/AIDS is far from over. We all can show our dedication and commitment to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic by raising funds and joining the AIDS Walk Philly 2005. If you have any questions, please phone (215)731-WALK, or e-mail: aidsfund@aidsfundphilly.org. Until it’s over...
IMPORTANT WARNING!!!
Beware of anyone you don’t know personally who solicits you for money over the telephone. Lately there was someone who identified himself as a Prime Timers member from Texas who tried to telephone some of the members of our chapter asking for money to be wired to him. He claimed he was robbed of his papers and money in Toronto and asked for money so he could fly home. The whole thing is now known to have been a scam. By cross checking the various stories given to different people, we can now be certain that this “person" was an inept, clumsy con artist. If he were a Prime Timers member, he could have contacted the president or treasurer of the Prime Timers chapter to which he is a member, or he could have contacted the treasurer of Prime Timers Worldwide. Remember:
Do not accept collect calls from anyone that you don’t normally get such calls from!
Do not agree to wire money/give out credit card info, etc. to anyone you don’t know personally if he should telephone you!
ps: Once we figured out what was going on, John (Membership) and Charles (our VP) began calling up all of the members to warn them of the scam. It looks like the we were able to keep the SOB nice and poor, just like he deserves to be.
UPDATE: Now more than ever it is crucial to be on the alert for criminals who would seek to profit from the suffering of others by stealing from the kind and warm hearted. Only give to attributed aid and charity orgainizations through established channels.

Just a reminder: The AIDS Walk Philly 2005 is on Sunday, October 16th. As you know, the fight against HIV/AIDS is far from over. (November 2005) Was'nt that a party!
Well I am glad to say that the club's Halloween Costume Party was a fabulous success! The house of Richard T. and John M. was packed with a fun bunch of guys looking to have a good time. The wild door prizes made for even more excitement! The best part of all was the chance to meet so many handsome men and welcome them into the Prime Timers of Philadelphia club. We are going to have to make this an anual event!

(December 2005) Was'nt that a party! (Part 2)
I am glad to say that club's visit to Mountain Top resort was a huge and fun success and I see that December continues going full tilt. With a three month streak of non-stop fun, you must must be wondering what we have planned for January. Well for a change of pace, we thought we'd try... rest! So there are no events planned this January, but rest assured that starting February, we'll be back with more fun events!
